Oh, 2020. What a year it has been.
If we’re honest, 2020 has probably pushed us all in ways that we didn’t expect. It’s been a mix of good and bad challenges for most, I’m sure. However, I can only speak for me.
2020…. where do I even begin? It’s so cliche to say tomorrow isn’t promised, but looking back to February/March, it’s never felt less cliche and more true. One day, life was “normal”, and very literally the next we were in a quarantine that was supposed to last for 2 weeks… max.
Then, it wasn’t just two weeks. It was a month. Two months. And then my inbox was essentially set on fire when over half of my spring weddings were rescheduled, and every bride and every vendor needed to try and coordinate schedules to make these weddings happen. When? We didn’t know. What a stressful season.
Honestly, long story short, I was either going to quit or make significant changes. And I’m not a quitter. I’m a chronic over-committer and work-a-holic because it’s the people-pleaser in me. It wasn’t because things were “hard”, but I literally couldn’t keep up. And that’s a failing feeling. (And I’m still playing catch up some days, but we’re at least in a sort of groove again. Praise!)
But then, it was time for spring mini sessions. And some didn’t happen, but some families still wanted a taste of “normal” and finally, (somewhat) normal it felt. And watching these precious families still laugh, and run around, and tickle each other, and just make memories lit a passion in me that I began to crave.
Before this year, I would enjoy the few family sessions I did but I certainly didn’t have any intentions of expanding my business into regular family sessions. But, I’ve genuinely loved every single one. I’ve found a love for capturing your families’ memories that bring your walls to life at home- and thankfully, it’s only just beginning.
Being a wedding photographer is one of my favorite hats, but aside from being a wife, nothing beats being a mom. I still intend to continue doing weddings as well, but watching you guys radiate joy in your mom role (and dad role) has become a highlight of this business too and I can’t wait to continue making memories with you. Here are a bunch of my favorites from the last few months.
I’m SO excited I still have a handful of minis to look forward to on November 7th, and if you’ve missed the last few events and are still needing your family pictures updated, you have an opportunity tomorrow morning at 9:30am to snag a spot on the last three dates: November 21, 22, and December 12! :)
XOXO, Taylor
PS. If your session isn’t featured here, I love it just as much! Things just got a bit out of control here…. :)
